It's been four weeks since Ryan (in conjunction with his sister, family and my parents) surprised me with a trip to Peru. WE'RE GOING TO MACHU PICCHU! I still can't believe how AMAZING it is going to be! Rachel, Ryan's sister, was able to book an exciting trip on the Salkantay Trail with Salkantay Trekking. I'm nervous, but super excited for this 5 day/4 night hike!
Preparing for finals in addition to packing for Christmas break AND 2 back-to-back trips is going to get quite hectic. I think I have a pretty good list now, after checking other hikers' lists in addition to crosschecking it with REI's Gear List, with minor modifications to accommodate the extra day/night.

THE LIST: (separated into two bags)
1. LL Bean's Women's AT55 Pack - I love this pack. It has a front access to the main compartment and is structured so that the weight isn't too heavy on your shoulders. The water bottle pockets hold Nalgene bottles well and the compartment in the hood is a nice addition to hold loose articles.
2. North Face Rain Coat - breathable with hood
3. LL Bean Primaloft Packaway Vest - Super light weight, folds into it's pocket AND my favorite color!
4. LL Bean Primaloft Packaway Jacket
5. Timberland hiking boots - broken in of course!
6. 1 Pair of leggings to sleep in - Zella Live-in Leggings are by far god's greatest gift to mankind. I have far more pairs than I care to admit and practically live in them, pun intended. Best investment I have ever made!
7. 2 pairs of hiking pants - just bought these from REI, dare I say "semi-fashionable" hiking pants? Sahara Roll-Up Pants
8. 3 long sleeve heat gear shirts
9. 2 tank tops - as a loyal IU student, I have to rock my KOK swag
10. 1 long sleeve shirt to sleep in
11. 2 short-sleeve shirts
12. Swimsuit
13. Other: Underwear, 4 hiking socks, 2 casual socks
14. Shower shoes/flip flops
15. Cocoon Travel Sheet - we are renting sleeping bags, but my own sheets make me feel more comfortable!
[ Not Pictured ]

17. Camelback
18. Newspaper - to dry wet shoes at night
19. Sunglasses
20. Headlamp
21. Trekking poles w/ rubber pads
22. SNACKS!
